When Estonia became independent, Russia agreed to an extraordinary arrangement on the border between the two countries. What is it about?
In the municipality of Setumaa in South-East Estonia, there is a road along which it is possible to walk on the Russian side – without any kind of border checks or visas.
The road section through Russia is just under a kilometer long. The area is closely guarded, and you may not stop there. Movement is allowed, for example, by car or bicycle, but walking is not allowed.
How did the special attraction come about? Watch a short video on the topic.
