Vimpelin Veto, who played with their backs against the wall, refused to budge against Sotkamo’s Jymy on their home field. Veto defeated Jymy in periods 2–0 (4–3, 3–0) and narrowed the match series to 1–2.

One of the culmination points of the struggle was seen at the beginning of the second period, when Vimpelin Veto kopper Elmeri Anttila applied in a dizzying way Roope Korhonen breakthrough from the three-point extension from behind the bench.

Sports expert Sami-Petteri Kivimäki describes the performance as unfathomable.

– An unbelievably hard performance from Elmeri Anttila. Of course, he knows how to go to overtime here, but it’s worth noting that the ball already went over the bench. These are performances that ignite Veto and the home crowd.

You can watch the runs of the match in the video below.

Kivimäki reminds us that throwing yourself onto the bank and towards the river requires courage.

– It’s not as nice looking as the TV picture looks. It’s steeper, there are rocks and everything. It also takes a head to go there, says Kivimäki.

– Vimpeli had winning performances both outside and inside today, more in the right places than Jymy. They partly turned the margins in Vimpel’s side.

Anttila himself was modest about his performance. He indicated that luck was also involved in the situation.

– Didn’t really have time to think about it. I went over the bank and happened to come right into the flipper. That’s fine, Anttila told Urheilu.

Vimpelin Veto’s game director Tomi Niskanen it was Anttila’s performance that stood out among the individuals.

– It was a very significant away game performance. The whole team played well today. There were a lot of good performances, we were on top of the game the whole time, Niskanen told Urheilu.

According to Niskanen, Veto’s game looked “in its own way” again.

– We had a tough hitting game, we actively played substitutions and the rhythm in the indoor game was good. The outdoor game was also excellent, Niskanen mused.

The role was also taken by the 2022 baseball player of the year Jukka-Pekka Vainionpää, who had previously struggled with his backstroke. This time he scored a total of four runs, two in each inning.

With the help of Vainionpää, Veto took a clear 3–0 lead at the beginning of the second period.

– Vainionpää got in batting shape in the final. That was perhaps the most decisive thing. Otherwise, it was tight. A few more breakthroughs for Vimpel. The better team won, Jymy’s game director Mikko Kuosmanen your inches.

– We started well and certain things were good, but we couldn’t break through. Those companies lacked quality. We didn’t get dangerous companies.

It was difficult to send Sotkamo home on Jymy, but it also gave Vedo more three-point chances than before. Jymy already took a 2–0 lead in the opening period, but Veto got into the match.

The opening period finally ended 4–3. With Jymy and Roope Korhosella there was a place to level the period, but Korhonen did not manage to take home the top speed Elmeri from Purmo. Korhonen scored two runs in five attempts in the match.
