While Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues, today has entered the 18th day. Russia, which attacked some cities in western Ukraine for the first time, targeted a military base only 25 kilometers from Ukraine’s Polish border. It was stated that 30 missiles were fired at the military base in Yavoriv.
DID RUSSIA HIT NATO BASE?
In the region of Lviv, there was the International Peace and Security Center, where military training was given to Ukrainians by NATO. It was learned that the hit military base was not affiliated with NATO and was a military base where NATO trained Ukrainian soldiers.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov confirmed that the training base was targeted by the Russians and used the term “terrorist attack”. According to Reznikov’s information, foreign trainers (NATO) were at the base at the time of the attack. Lviv city administrators announced that at least 9 people were killed and 57 people were injured at the base, where the Russian invaders launched 30 rockets.
In addition, eyewitnesses say that many ambulances were at the scene in Yavoriv, where the training base was hit. According to eyewitnesses, 19 ambulances left the military base with their sirens on after the missile attack.
Having targeted a point this far west for the first time, Russia also hit an international base. Christopher Miller, a Buzzfeed reporter in Ukraine, stated that the attack was confirmed by the Lviv Mayor. Reminding that he visited the NATO base in Yavoriv in February, Miller shared the footage of US soldiers training Ukrainians on his Twitter account.
The training center, known as IPSC for short, was established in Ukraine in 2007.
According to NATO documents, mine clearance training was also given to soldiers from Ukraine and other countries at the base.
WILL THE 3rd WORLD WAR GO?
Although rumors about the 3rd World War continue among politicians and in social media, the events have not yet turned into World War II. Whether there will be such a war or not will be determined by the advancing process and the politics between countries.
