Did not get to 112 you died of cardiac

A man in Skellefteå who suffered a cardiac arrest died after technical problems at SOS Alarm, writes Norran. Several of his relatives tried to call 112 but were met by an answering machine, which led to the help being delayed by about 27 minutes.

Once the line worked again, an ambulance was sent out with the highest priority, but the man’s life could not be saved.

According to an investigation, the problems with the emergency number were due to incorrect handling of technicians by the network provider during maintenance work. This made the server network in one of SOS Alarm’s data halls inaccessible.

SOS has reported the incident to the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate (Ivo) and has also taken measures to prevent similar operational disruptions from occurring again.
