Did a highlight from a Netflix series or movie leave an impression on you, and you’re dying to share it? The platform is launching a new function, Moments, to record and share excerpts on social networks.
To attract users, Netflix relies on the user-friendliness of its platform and, for that, it does not hesitate to look into social networks! The video streaming giant is launching a new mobile function called “Moments” which aims to “save, relive and share” their favorite scenes from a Netflix film, series or documentary with their friends or on social networks. Enough to be able to replay the highlights over and over again! The function is available from October 28 on iOS and should arrive soon on Android.

Concretely, this new function allows you to choose from a sequence that stood out to us in a piece of content and to publish it via a share button on Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, TikTok, X or even Snapchat, located at the bottom on the left of the screen – alongside the playback speed option. The recorded sequences are saved in the “My Netflix” tab so that you can watch them again later.
“You know that feeling when a scene, a character or a line from a series or movie sticks in your memory and you can’t help but send a message to your friends and say: ‘You have to watch this, it’s so good!’ ??”, said Marian Lee, Netflix’s chief marketing officer, Variety . “Whether it’s sparking Halloween costume ideas or becoming a TikTok sensation, the incredible fandoms we see are a testament to what makes Netflix amazing. Our new campaign aims to celebrate these unforgettable moments, bringing you back to the feeling you got when you became obsessed with a great series on Netflix.”
This novelty is not uninteresting. Indeed, the shared extracts will not be directly broadcast on the platforms. Rather, it is a backup of a specific landmark from the episode of the series or film. As a result, the shares will be accompanied by a link indicating “view in its original context” which will return to the platform. A way to casually invite Internet users to subscribe to enjoy the entire episode or film. We couldn’t have asked for better publicity!
Please note, not all sequences will be shareable. Scenes containing spoilers, “explicit content” or violence will be excluded from this sharing system. Other functions will subsequently be added to Moments. A ranking of the most sequenced series is also available on a dedicated page and will be regularly updated.
