Dr. Mark Dickson, who dedicated his 2023 Movember campaign to his mother Patricia (1949-2022), raised $3,440 from community donations, surpassing his goal of $2,500.

Since 2015, Dickson has raised $22,746 for Movember, which supports men’s health, promotes prostate cancer research, mental health awareness, and suicide prevention.

“I was really excited throughout the whole month,” Dickson said. “I felt I gave my best effort to try to raise funds – and have a good time – and I’m hoping she’d be proud of what I pulled off.”

Dickson thanked all of his many donors and supporters.

“I couldn’t have been so successful without all of your help and affections.”

In mid-November, Domino’s Pizza Tillsonburg teamed up with Dickson as a sponsor, agreeing to give a free medium three-topping pizza voucher for every donation Dickson received during the rest of the campaign.

“That really helped as a final push to get more donations,” said Dickson, who was given 75 pizza coupons. “So this was a really fun one, wearing a delivery jacket, giving out the coupons around town. It was like Santa Claus, giving things to my supporters. It brought a lot of cheer to everyone.”

Dickson concluded his 2023 campaign with a video for YouTube and Facebook, singing and dancing to a song from the Annie musical with his daughter Josie. His son Thomas was the music coordinator (he pressed ‘play’) and his wife Anna recorded the video.

“It was a whole family production,” Dickson said, noting he plans to do more content for men’s health on his YouTube channel (Dr. Mark Dickson) next year.

Dickson was recently recognized by the Town of Tillsonburg as an Outstanding Volunteer for the last quarter of 2023.
