Comeback in the Djurgårds jersey.
Then it didn’t take long for Dick Axelsson to get on the score sheet.
Four and a half minutes to be precise.
– That one has been done 400 times, he says.
Djurgården did not get an optimal start to the Allsvenskan hockey premiere away to Oskarshamn when the home team took the lead through Niclas Burström after barely four minutes.
Burström found his way under the bump of Viktor Andrén in the Dif box with only one second left in the game in numerical superiority.
But Djurgården responded almost immediately when they got sent off for tripping and Colby Sissons found Dick Axelsson who made it 1-1 in the power play.
– It is practiced in the “old man’s corner” as everyone calls it. It’s a “patenter”, says Axelsson after the goal, which was his first in a competitive context for Djurgården in over two years.
Come back after the match penalty
However, the first period ended in a minor for the 08 team when Daniel Brodin went on a match penalty after a head tackle and Oskarshamn took back the lead with two seconds left before the break.
But in the middle period, Djurgården came back first through David Blomgren, then through Albin Grewe and finally through August Berg, who scored his first goal in the Dif jersey after a shot straight into the roof of the net to make it 4-2.
Won after 24 (!) penalties
However, the third period changed completely when Djurgården stopped shooting and invited Oskarshamn into the match.
The home team both reduced and equalized but in the end had to see themselves beaten after Djurgården drew the longest straw after penalties that went all the way to the twelfth round.
Marcus Krüger scored his penalty at the same time as Viktor Andrén closed again which meant 5-4 to the visitors.
– I started to get a little cold there, but Viktor did well in the box and gave us the chance to win again and again, says Dif captain Krüger.
