Diablo Immortal Improves a Hated System – Fans Demand “Just Remove It”

The developers are working with patches and updates to constantly improve Diablo Immortal. Most recently, Season 3 came with an update for the troops. But it is precisely this system that annoys many players. It is superfluous and one should rather focus on clans.

What is this system? Troops, or “Warbands,” are groups of 8 players that are tightly linked together. Some of the group content in Diablo Immortal is specifically designed for troops.

Warbands serve to get players excited about groups without having to join a clan right away. So they’re kind of a middle ground between solo play and clans, or guilds.

Now, with the start of Season 3 on August 3rd, Troops received an upgrade. The blog entry for the mini update states:

The squad menu now shows you which members of your squad are online and what in-game activity they are currently engaged in.

It was difficult to organize troop activities if you didn’t see what the others were doing. The change should make it easier. But especially on reddit, many players are demanding that the system should simply be removed completely.

“Troops are such an annoying nuisance”

Why are troops annoying? You can only get some rewards and progress in Diablo Immortal by playing in squads. The previous major update 1.5.2 already put a greater focus on troops.

Since then, it has been possible to get one more legendary emblem every week. This makes it easier to farm legendary gems, which has been a major criticism for many players so far. Because the gems are considered the big Pay2Win factor of Diablo Immortal.

For the reward, however, you must defeat one of the raid bosses from Hell’s Reliquary in a squad. According to many players, this is a nuisance, since hardly anyone has 8 active players who can be reached continuously. You would have to agree and you could not play at will.

This leads to troops being joined for just one activity and then leaving again. A real sense of togetherness does not build up.

What the players say: The topic of troops keeps coming up on reddit. One of the newer threads is also one of the biggest there and already has 950 upvotes. The players demand: Instead of strengthening troops, the activities should be opened up to clans.

Many players agree that clans are actually the better option for social interaction and teamwork in Diablo Immortal. But they’re not being promoted enough, as user Hogridahh notes:

Having a slug for the clan and a chest for all members would be awesome. We’re lacking in any major clan content outside of the rite.

Others agree that some sort of camp for the clan would be a cool idea – similar to the troop camp but with more players. Currently, the faction war between shadows and immortals is the big content for clans.

Players keep asking Blizzard to just completely remove troops from the game instead of overhauling them in any way. So far, however, there is no information as to whether this will happen in the near future.

Some of the hardest-working gamers, meanwhile, claim to have found out that Diablo Immortal really can’t be overplayed:
