Diablo Immortal bosses respond to Pay2Win allegations from biggest MMORPG YouTuber

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Diablo Immortal is about to be released. Even before that, however, there was criticism from many throats, including well-known names on Twitch and YouTube. MeinMMO had the opportunity to talk to the bosses, including on the subject of Pay2Win.

What’s up with the allegations?

Some of the corresponding videos received several hundred thousand views in just a few hours. Asmongold and Co. are upset about the items that can be bought and the benefit they bring.

The bosses have already spoken about the shop in Diablo Immortal. A lot has happened since the beta and feedback and criticism from the players were implemented for the release. However, what exactly will change has not yet been revealed.

In the interview we spoke to Wyatt Cheng (Game Director) and Peiwen Yao (Executive Producer). The two are instrumental in the development of Diablo Immortal. We asked them how exactly they deal with such videos and feedback

What you are reading here is just an excerpt from the interview, which we found important enough to show you separately. The full interview on updates, content and more will appear soon on MeinMMO. Here you will also find everything you need to know about Diablo Immortal in 3 minutes:

“Every feedback is a gift”

MeinMMO: Some influencers have shot and published videos in which alleged Pay2Win features were shown. They collected hundreds of thousands of views within a short time. How do you feel about influencers and such content in general?

Cheng: “Two things about that. The first is that I encourage every player to provide feedback. At Blizzard, we say all feedback is a gift. Influencers are of course a source of feedback.

We also look at forums, social media, direct feedback… feedback comes in many forms. We want players to always tell us what they think of their gaming experience.

Directly related to these videos, I think it’s important to reiterate that the best way to progress is simply by playing the game. Quite a bit of recent coverage has been super focused on the legendary gems and acted like that was all that mattered.

But that’s really not the case. Think about your Diablo experience. There’s EP and Paragon, which are almost more important in their own way. There’s gear and legendary items, the social network and friends. In an MMO, how you interact with others is important.

When we think of the game, we remember that players are never locked out of progressing their character. At no point should you say, ‘Ah, I’m not even logging in. There is nothing to do without spending money.’ That’s just not true.

You can always find new items. We will never sell gear. We will not sell XP boosts. You have to play the game to advance. This is a cornerstone of the gameplay first spirit: the best way to level up your character is to play.”

Yao: “For us, the key is to offer different ways to play the game. Some like the legendary gems and crests, others like the social aspect. Diablo Immortal is a free game and we will attract many new players.

I wish these players would find their own way to experience Diablo Immortal to its fullest.”

When is Diablo Immortal coming out? On June 2nd, Diablo Immortal officially goes live. Shortly before the release, there was another roadmap with important information about the launch, including the start time. You will then be able to play at 7:00 p.m. German time.

You can play Diablo Immortal on iOS, Android, and PC, with the PC client officially still in open beta. However, all progress will be adopted later, which is why we speak of a soft launch.
