Diablo 4 tests new loot, opens the PTR

The hotly anticipated Season 4 is coming to the PTR of Diablo 4. Shortly before the launch, Blizzard published the patch notes. MeinMMO provides you with the most important information and explains how you can test the patch.

This is what Blizzard is testing:

  • From April 2nd to April 9th, Diablo 4’s public test realm (“PTR”) will be live for the first time. There you can look at the changes to Season 4 and give feedback.
  • The biggest innovation in Season 4 is Diablo 4’s new item system, which, according to fans and experts, looks really promising. Particularly hotly anticipated: item crafting.
  • In addition, there are several overhauled systems and improved features such as greater challenges and better rewards in Hellfloods.

    • The highlights of the patch notes: You can test the new features of Hellfloods during the test phase. The more monsters you slaughter, the more your “threat” increases. At maximum threat, a troop of assassins appears who are targeting you. Using currency found in Tormented Gifts, you can also start a new event for a boss fight and powerful rewards.

    However, the new itemization is the most important feature that will come to the PTR and with Season 4. Blizzard is overhauling pretty much everything that has existed before. The short summary is:

    Season 4 is coming to the PTR, but you only have 1 week

    If you want to test the new patch and Season 4, you must first download the PTR. The test only works on PC, not on consoles:

  • Open the Battle.net app and navigate to Diablo 4.
  • Select the “Public Test Realm” from the drop-down menu.
  • Click “Install” or “Play.”
  • Find any test server and create a new character.

    • Progress such as the campaign, mounts and Lilith statues will be carried over from your account. You start with the new character in Kyovasahd and can talk to the NPC “PTR boost” there.

    The NPC lets your character rise to level 100 and provides him with equipment, gold and other items so that you can test all the innovations extensively. Legendary drop rates are doubled on the PTR, so don’t get used to it!

    To give feedback, you can either use the tool directly in the game or take part in discussions in the official forum. You can find the in-game tool in the menu (“Escape” button).
