Season 3 in Diablo 4 starts on January 23rd. Apart from a few new features, there is no information yet, neither on the topic nor on the season mechanics. Now Blizzard has at least hinted at what it’s about with a short teaser.
This is the teaser:
When will there be more information? The tweet says that more information about the season will be available on January 16th. The season theme and the most important content will probably be published on this day.
There will also be a Campfire Chat on January 18th in which the developers will go into detail about Season 3 and answer some questions from the community. Some features that are also discussed there are already known:
The stream takes place at 6:00 p.m. German time and you can watch on YouTube or Twitch.
During Season 3 there will also be a new update that brings ray tracing to the game:
Another leak is true, runes are coming in Season 3
The teaser with the arcane powers is already an indication for many fans that the focus will somehow be on sorceresses. Some have already decided to play the class in Season 3.
Others suspect that the famous Zoltun Kul is hiding behind the figure. That would be a rough fit, as the former Horadrim was a master of artifact art. Arcane constructs and automata are apparently the main theme of the season.
However, a few resourceful players have discovered an important detail: runes light up on some of the gears. Rune words were supposed to be in the game when Diablo 4 was released, but were then postponed. They could now come with Season 3.
However, a large part of the community is having fun with the way the season has now been announced. The rotating gears are strongly reminiscent of Grinding Gear Games, the makers of its biggest competitor: Path of Exile.
Whether this was intentional or not can only be speculated. But the connection between the teaser and Path of Exiles is already causing tons of memes and sometimes mocking comments. Path of Exile is considered the top game when it comes to finding the best alternatives to Diablo.
