Season 6 starts in Diablo 4 in October and brings numerous changes to the game. Here on MeinMMO you can find out everything about the start date, the PTR and the features.
Season 6 is coming and will bring a completely revamped leveling system, new difficulty levels and several quality of life improvements to the game. Diablo boss Rod Fergusson said, “What Season 4 did to loot, Season 6 will do to progression.”
Season 6: Release Date and PTR
When does Season 6 start? Season 5 ends on October 9th and Season 6 starts after that. We expect it to start around 7:00 p.m. If things go the same way as they did at the start of Season 5, there will be a preload of the patch here too.
When does Season 6 end? It is not yet known when Season 6 will end. On average, the seasons last around three months. Season 5 is shorter, however, because it essentially ends with the release of the expansion “Vessel of Hatred.”
Is there a PTR? Yes, there will be a PTR (public test server) from September 11th to September 20th. There you can test some features that will be permanently introduced in Season 6 and Vessel of Hatred. This time the PTR is divided into two phases. You can find out the details here:
Season 6: Theme and Features
What is the theme of Season 6? The theme of Season 6 is not yet known, nor are the season mechanics. In the last “Campfire Chat” livestream on August 29, the developers explained that they will announce more about it soon.
What’s in Season 6? In the “Campfire Chat” livestream, the developers also reported on the numerous updates for Season 6. Basically, the upcoming season and the “Vessel of Hatred” expansion will change the entire level and difficulty system in Diablo 4.
New features in Season 6:
new progression system: Paragon and character levels are then separated from each other. The new max level is level 60, which gives you 10 additional skill points. From level 60 onwards you collect Paragon levels. The Paragon points you unlock are tied to your realm, rather than to the character. In concrete terms, this means that all Paragon levels are shared with all your characters on a realm.
new difficulty system: World Tiers become difficulty levels. There are four standard difficulty levels and the higher the difficulty level, the more gold and XP you get:
Normal (for those looking for a light challenge) – unlocked by default
Hard and Expert (more difficult challenge) – unlocked after completing the Diablo 4 prologue
Remorseful (increased risks, preparation for the new Torment difficulty levels) – unlocked at level 50
After that, the new torture difficulty levels await you, which are the beginning of the endgame. You unlock these gradually in the pit. You unlock the pit activity itself at character level 60.
Monster levels are no longer displayed, they adapt to the difficulty level you are playing on. The difficulty levels determine how challenging Diablo 4 is. This should provide more clarity and overview.
new skills and paragon boards for all classes: Each class receives new uniques, a new Paragon board, a new skill and 5 new passive skills. You can then only equip five Paragon boards. The number of Paragon points you collect by leveling is increased from 200 to 300.
Ultimate skills can then, like other skills, be upgraded with skill points.
In addition, health, armor and core stats are being adjusted. According to the developers, the number of numbers used to represent stats and damage has “gotten out of control.”
Glyph update: Starting in Season 6, you will no longer level your glyphs in Nightmare Dungeons, but in the Pit. This will no longer be done with experience, but with attempts. The chance of upgrading your glyph is based on the level of the glyph and the Pit level you complete. The max level of glyphs will be set from 21 to 100. You can upgrade glyphs to legendary glyphs at level 45.
Revision of the items: According to the developers, holy items and ancestral items have lost their specialness because they have become “too common”. They should become powerful again. Ancestral items always drop with the highest item power of 800 from “Torment 1”. Only these items have Greater Affixes – and always at least one. All other items have an item power of 750. Holy items no longer drop. Items with an item power of 750 can be completed up to 4 times, ancestral items 12 times.
Quality of Life updates: You can then mark your favorite city and click on your city portal to go to the city you like to visit the most. In addition, there is the option to adjust the difficulty level in several cities. You currently do this in Kyovashad. You also get a new inventory tab for various keys and seals. An expert has already suspected this feature based on screenshots. Helmets get 2 sockets, so you can also use 2 gems there – or runes that are part of the “Vessel of Hatred” expansion.
There is no trailer for Season 6 yet. Season 5, the “Season of the Infernal Hordes”, is currently running in Diablo 4:
Season 6: Tips and best classes
What do I need to do before the end of Season 5? You still have a little over a month until the current season ends. With it, your seasonal characters will move to the Eternal Realm and all seasonal items will disappear.
The cosmetic content from the Diablo 4 Season Pass will also no longer be available. You will only receive it in the current season. If cosmetics are important to you and you like the style of the Battle Pass, you should pick them up by October 9th.
If player titles are important to you, you still have the opportunity to unlock a secret title in Season 5. To do so, however, you must complete a few tasks:
Which class is suitable? It is not yet clear which classes will move to the top of the tier lists in Season 6. With the adjusted level system, new skills and rune words, there are numerous new possibilities for builds. Currently, sorceresses and hunters in particular have powerful builds: Diablo 4 Season 5 Tier List: The best builds for all classes in the endgame
