Diablo 4: Patch 1.1.1 coming on August 8th, buffs all classes

In the latest Campfire Chat, the Diablo 4 developers talked about Patch 1.1.1 and the upcoming improvements. They have taken up a number of criticisms from the community and are planning extensive changes to many areas of the game.

The most important thing from the stream:

  • Patch 1.1.1 will be released on August 8th, the official patch notes will be published on August 2nd.
  • The core of the patch will be the promised buffs for sorceresses and barbarians, which were announced right after the start of Season 1.
  • There are also improvements to nightmare dungeons and tons of bug fixes.
  • This is in the patch: After Season 1 and Patch 1.1.0, many players were disappointed, especially since sorceresses and barbarians were suddenly almost useless. The two classes slipped to the bottom of all tier lists.

Many changes from the patch met with a lack of understanding and are now to be reversed in some cases directly. There are buffs for all classes and gameplay improvements designed to make Diablo 4 more fun again.

Blizzard will only publish the final patch notes on August 2nd. In the stream, however, Game Director Joe Shely, Associate Game Director Joe Piepiora and Lead Class Designer Adam Z. Jackson were already talking about the upcoming changes.

It could happen that some numbers are adjusted, but the fundamental changes should come as shown. You can find the entire stream on YouTube.

This changes with sorceresses: Almost the entire range of skills and legendaries is revised here. Lightning skills in particular get strong buffs, so chain lightning could become one of the new top builds.

There are also changes to Glyphs and Paragon Nodes that should make more builds useful. Currently, the endgame can only be reliably contested with a handful of builds, with the Blizzard build being considered the strongest.

In addition, the developers want to weaken the negative effects that currently only affect sorceresses. Many Legendaries give you a strong buff, but also take something away from you. Patch 1.1.1 will reduce this or even completely eliminate it. There’s even a brand new Legendary for the class.

Here are the changes in detail in English:

This changes with barbarians: Similar to sorceresses, barbarian build variety should be improved. However, the focus of the class is on the early levels. There are buffs to anger generation, so you should get through the game better up to about level 50.

In addition, the damage of several abilities and the bonus of passive effects and legendaries increase. Bleeding builds, for example, should become significantly stronger than before by improving the wound passive.

Buffs Uniques and all classes, more quality

What is changing about the other classes? There are also minor changes for Necromancers, Huntresses, and Druids. Only minor things change here like slightly more damage for certain skills. In summary, the changes are:

  • stronger ranged and trap builds for Slayers
  • Druids gain more Spirit from skills and their pets become stronger
  • Necromancers should be able to play with DoT builds a little better
  • some enemy abilities deal less damage to all pets, which should make pet builds better
  • There are also some changes to unique items. This applies to both class-specific and class-agnostic items. From patch 1.1.1 you will only be able to find the new versions.

Here are the changes in detail in English:

This will be improved: In addition to the class changes, there are tons of improvements to the quality of the game. In addition to the already promised increase in monster density in Nightmare Dungeons and Infernal Tide, there are:

To do this, the dungeon teleport is reset from 5 seconds to the original 3 seconds. The change was simply not fun. The Nightmare affixes Resource Drain, Cold Enchanted, and From Behind are gone.

However, to compensate for the now guaranteed loot, dungeon bosses at world levels 3 and 4 receive a buff: they can now withstand more. You want your builds to actually feel like something at these levels and not just mow down everything, including bosses.

There are also plenty of bug fixes to come. However, only 2 were specifically mentioned: the VRAM leak on PC and the currently bugged Necromancer skill tree.

When should I salvage or sell items in Diablo 4?

    This comes after patch 1.1.1

In addition to the upcoming changes, the developers promised some adjustments to come in the future. In most cases, there was no precise data on this, one is either working on it continuously or has yet to make a final decision.

This includes, for example, that mechanics such as overpower and damage over time should be just as important as vulnerability when it comes to builds. The idea is: no matter what effect you find on a Legendary, you should be able to build a build from it.

Abilities and legendaries that deal a fixed damage value are currently strong in the early game and useless in the endgame. This should also change in the course of the build variety. The same goes for ultimates. Other planned changes are:

Questions about a zoom function and more adaptability also came from the community, but could not be answered in this round. There may be more information in a later talk.

With patch 1.1.1 the class balance will probably shift enormously, but there will certainly be significantly more builds in the A and S tiers. The best classes and builds can be found here:
