In Diablo 4, leaderboards come into play in Season 3, but not right at the start of the season. You can find out when they come and how they work here on MeinMMO.
The developers already talked about leaderboards for Diablo 4 at gamescom 2023. It was said that they wanted to ensure better balancing first and that the boards were planned for Season 3. The Season of the Construct starts on January 23rd, but the leaderboards won’t arrive until later.
For the leaderboards there should be weekly rotating dungeons with a fixed layout in which you can compete with others. We will explain to you below what this is all about.
This is how the leaderboards work in Diablo 4
How does the leaderboard work? At the start of a new week, the old leaderboard will be reset and replaced with a new one. There should always be the same monsters and the same affixes in the weekly rotating dungeons. This is to ensure that it is a fair challenge.
The level of the monsters in the dungeons should start at 100, which will put your leveled up and refined builds to the test. You can try out different classes to get the high score on the leaderboards.

The respective leaderboard consists of levels, with each new placement you receive rewards and seals. As soon as you unlock the “Seal of the Worthy”, you are ready to fight for the top 1,000 places on the leaderboard:
When does the leaderboard come into play? In a YouTube video, Joe Piepora, a developer of Diablo 4, explains that the leaderboard will arrive “several weeks after the start of the season.” Every player who has unlocked World Tier 4 can then fight for a place on the leaderboard.
