BlizzCon 2023 is in full swing and there is a lot of new information about World of Warcraft, WoW Classic and of course Diablo 4. Blizzard has now announced the Christmas event Midwinter Plague and other innovations for its current Season 2.

The Midwinter Plague and more: What’s new in Diablo 4 Season 2?
During the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2023, Blizzard announced some innovations for Diablo 4’s currently ongoing second season.
The midwinter plague is coming
The Christmas event “Midwinter Plague” starts on December 12th and runs until January 2nd, 2024. As part of the event, the “Shattered Peaks” zone will be transformed into a “Winter Terrorland”, the counterpart of the regular Winter Wonderland.
Nothing more was announced at BlizzCon itself. However, data miners discovered information the day before the event.

New class rings & challenges
In addition to the winter event, there will be a new ring for each class in Season 2. Their functions are said to be based on the corrupted powers from Season 1.
In Season 1 you were able to collect so-called spiteful hearts. With them you could equip your characters with four different buffs:
The new update for Diablo 4, which will be rolled out next week, is intended to change the occultist. It will also ensure that players have a better overview of the attachment options for enchanted items.
On December 5th, Blizzard will launch a new limited-time endgame event in Diablo 4: The Abbatoir of Zir. The event is for characters at level 100 who have already faced the toughest challenges to date.
