Diablo 4 fulfills the fans’ stupidest wish, bringing a second boss that slaps you away without warning

Since the release of Diablo 4, the Butcher has caused fear and terror, but at the same time also a morbid fascination. The iconic enemy has killed more players than heroes have died in PvP. Now, with Season 3, he has an opponent.

What’s the deal with the butcher?

  • The Butcher originally comes from Diablo 1. There he gave players a horror moment for the first time when they came into his bloody chamber and said the famous: “Fresh Fleisch!” (original: “Fresh Meat! “) were welcomed.
  • Since then, the Butcher has made several appearances, including in Diablo 3 and Heroes of the Storm. The demon can also be found in Diablo 4, where it disrupts random dungeons.
  • In Diablo 4, the Butcher is one of the toughest enemies ever, largely because he appears out of nowhere and disappears again once he has killed you. He preferably greets you when you have run out of cooldowns and potions.
  • Here’s why players wanted more of it: The Butcher ensured that Diablo 4 once again has a horror element that the series has been missing for a while. Diablo 3 in particular was simply too colorful for many fans.

Now there’s another enemy who appears out of nowhere, screams in your face, chases you faster than you can run and rearranges your organs with meat hooks and battle cleavers. They say it feels like a horror film.

The Butcher is such a tough and dangerous opponent that shortly after release he was responsible for more deaths than all players in PvP – he collected over 5 million kills in the first weekend alone.

A few players are so fascinated by the Butcher that they want more situations like this. More bosses that just show up, pull a steel chair through your face, and then leave. That’s exactly what exists now.

The son of Malphas is the new butcher, but even nastier

In Season 3 there is a new dungeon type, the vaults, which is primarily used to upgrade your seneschal. Only there will you get the important guiding stones with which the companion learns new skills.

The real challenge of the vaults is that there are traps everywhere. If you want to get the most loot at the end, you need a special buff and you can’t let yourself be hit by traps.

But now the miniboss “Son of Malphas” can randomly appear in the dungeons. The idea behind it is the same as with the Butcher: The demon appears, slaps you around, and leaves again.

However, players are already saying that the son of Malphas is more of a butcher on steroids. I can say from my own experience: He can’t be kited around pillars or boxes like the Butcher, but instead jumps out of the sky at you every few seconds.

He also hits much harder. One hit can easily cost you your entire life bar – or more. There’s probably just not enough data to have a proper strategy against the beast, but… well, such an opponent is exactly what many wanted. Even if some people will probably think it’s a fairy tale, only to be surprised.
