Diablo 4 Fans Shocked By Unofficial Patch Notes – “I’m Just Gonna Lay Down And Cry”

Before the server slam of Diablo 4 unofficial patch notes are circulating. They show tons of changes, mostly nerfs, for all classes.

With the server slam, the last open test of Diablo 4 is pending before the action RPG then approaches the release. Back in March, players had the chance to get a first impression of Diablo 4 in the open beta.

Blizzard also had some insights. They mainly affect the balancing and so the Diablo developers made some changes to the classes before the upcoming server slam. Now there are unofficial patch notes.

What are these patch notes? The Wowhead page has documented all the changes included in the Diablo 4 Server Slam client “Patch 0.9” and published them as “unofficial patch notes”.

The changes include adjustments to the skills, talents, and passive abilities of all 5 Diablo 4 classes.

There are no official patch notes from Blizzard for the changes.

What do the patch notes contain? Blizzard has made a number of nerfs and isolated buffs with the patch. But especially the nerfs carry weight.

For example, the Necromancer’s Bone Splinters have been reduced from 22% damage to 8%. The caster’s “Frost Nova” now has a higher cooldown (24 seconds instead of 15) and the barbarian’s “Challenging Shout” has also been degraded. Its damage reduction lasts only 6 seconds instead of 8.

On the other hand, there was a buff for the druid’s companions, for example. Its wolves now do 110% damage instead of 35%. Raven damage has also been increased from 85% to 160%. As well as the damage the barbarian attempts with the Whirlwind attack (17% instead of 13%).

In general, a lot has changed in the classes and we have only given you a few examples here. The full unofficial patch notes can be found at wowhead.com.

Why is Blizzard changing so much about the classes? The March beta not only revealed queues trying to get onto the servers, but also some insights into the different builds.

Diablo 4: 5 popular beta builds to try

Finally, there were some players who feared for build diversity in Diablo 4, as specific combinations turned out to be particularly good and other builds just couldn’t keep up. There wasn’t much variety, and if there was, the players made a conscious decision not to play the best possible damage.

Players mourn the loss of their favorite builds

What are the fans saying about the patch notes? They’re more or less shocked by the amount of nerfs that the patch contains. But there are also a few players for whom it is completely understandable that Blizzard is working on balancing the game before the release of Diablo 4. Others mourn the loss of their favorite builds, which may be noticeably worse now.

  • its_tharid: “My two favorite starter builds were Freeze Sorc and Bone Splinters Necro. I guess I’ll just lay down and cry (via Reddit).”
  • GrizNectar: ”Damn, those are some significant nerfs for the Sorc (via Reddit).”
  • SyntheticMoJo: “My cooldown Iceblade build. They’ve nerfed every associated skill by 25-50%… The build should now feel maybe 1/4 as good (via Reddit).”
  • Karoneko: Damn it. My barbel upheaval build was a blast in the beta. That’s quite a damage nerf (via Reddit).”
  • If you want to get an idea of the changes, you can do so at the server slam – this starts on May 12th. However, you must start a new character and level up again. MeinMMO editor Maik Schneider tells you how to do this most effectively:
