Many players are busy working on their builds in Diablo 4 right now. A now well-known barbarian expert has taken his favorite class to his chest and created a ridiculously powerful Thorn build. He even kills enemies without touching his mouse and keyboard.
Who is the player?
This is the build: Rob built the build around the Thorns mechanic. Thorns reflect damage back to enemies that attack you. The aim of the build is to be able to take as much as possible, take little damage yourself and multiply incoming damage to enemies.
The build doesn’t show up at all in the Diablo 4 tier list. There barbarians are more likely to play with Whirlwind or Mangle. As Rob explains, however, he can completely do without some of the otherwise important stats.
He doesn’t really need attack power or offensive stats on his weapons and jewelry. More life and especially thorns are more important. And that works excellently, as he shows in the video. Even if he takes his hands away and just watches:
Build uses items that most of you ignore
At the core of the build are a few items that most of you would probably ignore. They are very special and, outside of these exact builds, don’t do much. The items include:
Rob hasn’t quite finished building, as he says himself. He first has to see which useful values can all be present on the parts. He didn’t quite expect it to work so well.
He even tried the build in PvP and it was probably a real nightmare for his opponents. Values such as more life and armor are particularly important. Armor is the most important defensive stat anyway.
I found out with my Blizzard build that you can have a lot of fun with off-meta builds:
A German player for necromancers even recreated a similar build (via GameStar). Here, the huge, summoned golem can “dish out” just as nasty as Rob’s barbarian.
Although the build doesn’t even show up in the tier lists, some fans in Rob’s chat are sure that the thorns will be nerfed soon. That’s apparently what’s happening with the popular Barbarian Whirlwind build right now, although there may have been a bug here:
