Diablo 4 boss says game is best ‘when it feels like you’re cheating’

The head of Diablo 4 made interesting statements in an interview that should please some ARPG players. Blizzard has changed its strategy when it comes to balancing builds in the season.

How does the statement come about? The head of Diablo 4 Rod Fergusson spoke out in an interview (via YouTube) on various topics, including Diablo 4. In the interview, the Blizzard employee explains that the Diablo 4 team has changed the strategy, which means nerfs from OP- Builds are concerned.

Builds that were too strong used to be nerfed by Blizzard in the current season. This led to frustration for many players because the characters were sometimes nerfed for players so much that the fun was lost.

Since this season, Blizzard has deliberately wanted to leave OP builds like this so as not to rob the players of their joy again. Instead, you want to delay build nerfs.

“Let them have fun, we’ll worry about it later.”

What exactly does the Diablo 4 boss say? Rod Fergusson says that as a developer you are often in a dilemma. You want all builds to be fair and equally strong, but at the same time you would also ruin the fun.

The thing about a Diablo game is that those overpowered moments when it feels like you’re cheating, or have tricked the development team by exploiting a bug, can be really, really fun.

This learning process takes some time for the Blizzard developers. For example, the “Ball Lightning Sorc” build is currently at the top. Here on MeinMMO, too, the build tops our tier list.

How is the fun in Diablo 4 now? Diablo 4 has changed since its release. In addition to new content, the game also received updates that make the level and the game itself easier and more comfortable. The Christmas event “Midwinter Plague” has been running since December 12th, you can find more information about it here.

Rod Fergusson describes the experience in Diablo using the “power curve” of the character. You start off a little behind, find an item, do a lot of damage for a few levels until you fall behind again at some point and then the game starts again.

This cycle is the core of most ARPGs and should also be further fueled in Diablo. The developers of Path of Exile have also recognized how much fun players can have with overwhelming changes:
