Diablo 3 shows season theme for season 28 with patch 2.7.5 – A powerful altar awaits you

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Blizzard has presented the content of the new season 28 in Diablo 3. We summarize the most important things from patch 2.7.5 and look at the new seasonal theme.

When does season 28 start? That’s not entirely clear yet. The 2.7.5 patch is scheduled to be available for testing on the PTR server starting Tuesday, January 31st. This test is designed to last for 7 days.

So the test period ends on Tuesday, February 7th. Since Seasons in Diablo 3 traditionally start on a Friday, February 10th would be the obvious start date for Season 28, which would replace the current Season 27.

In the past, however, there have been extensions to the PTR times when Blizzard had to continue working on the update after feedback from the testers. Accordingly, start dates may be postponed at short notice.

As soon as the official start date is known, we will keep you up to date here at MeinMMO.

However, it is already clear what the theme of the coming Season 28 will be.

A season always runs for 3 months, during which time the content can be used. But only if you create a new seasonal character.

Season theme of season 28 in Diablo 3

What is the theme? Season 28 is called “Rites of Sanctuary” and revolves around an ominous altar that unsuspecting citizens of New Tristram stumbled upon on a hunting trip.

This Altar of Rites features 26 sigils and 3 legendary potion powers that players will discover upon their first arrival at the altar.

In a way, these altar runes work like their own kind of skill tree. Once the first seal is unlocked, you can progress through the skill tree in different ways, depending on what suits your characters.

Each seal and each potion brings you new skills and bonuses as well as the opportunity to unlock more seals.

Here you can find all of them at a glance:

How do you unlock the seals? To unlock the altar’s full power, you must collect various materials and sacrifice them to the altar. The costs are getting higher and the items are getting rarer, the more of the seals and powers you unlock. This also includes Primordial Ashes.

If you have managed to unlock all the seals, you will also receive a new cosmetic: The “Wings of Terror”.

What else is in the patch? You can find the full patch notes here at Blizzard. In addition to the new altar, there will also be changes to known content. This includes various item adjustments, monk changes, and bug fixes.

What is a season anyway? Diablo 3 regularly hosts Seasons that unlock additional content to keep the gaming experience fresh. You can usually use them for three months before the next season starts. However, this only applies to newly created season characters.
