One of the legendary names in the gaming world, Hideaki Itsuno, is leaving Capcom after more than thirty years of work. The genius behind the Devil May Cry series, Itsuno announced this weekend that he is preparing to start a new chapter in his career. But don’t worry, this famous director will continue to develop games.
Itsuno’s Post-Capcom Plans
Hideaki Itsuno announced via X/Twitter, “I will be leaving Capcom at the end of August 2024, after 30 years and 5 months. Thank you for your long-term support of the games and characters I am responsible for. I hope you will continue to support Capcom’s games and characters. Starting in September, I will start developing a new game in a new environment.”
Itsuno directed many successful games, including the Devil May Cry series, Dragon’s Dogma, and Power Stone. He took over the directorship of Devil May Cry 2, which was a difficult production process, and played an important role in saving the series’ future. Itsuno revived the series with Devil May Cry 3, regained the series’ fan base, and solidified his success with Devil May Cry 5.
Although Itsuno’s departure from Capcom is seen as a great loss in the gaming world, fans are very excited for his new projects. Stating that he will start working on a new game starting in September, Itsuno aims to create unforgettable games again.
