Apple’s app store, the App Store, contains millions of apps. But some of these apps haven’t been updated for a while. Apple seems to have taken action on this issue.
APPLE UNPLUGS APPS THAT NO LONGER UPDATE
According to a screenshot shared by some of the affected iOS developers on Twitter, Apple has sent the developers an email about the issue. In the email in question, Apple warned that it would remove apps from the App Store that did not receive updates for a “significant period” and gave developers 30 days to update apps. According to Apple, an update must be submitted within 30 days for the app to be unpublished.
DEVELOPERS REACT TO APPLE
The makers of a number of apps, such as Robert Kabwe, expressed their concerns about the change on Twitter. Kabwe said on Twitter that Apple has threatened to remove the game Motivoto because it has not been updated since March 2019.
.@apple is removing a few of my old games b/c they have “not been updated in a significant amount of time”
Games can exist as completed objects! These free projects aren’t suitable for updates or a live service model, they’re finished artworks from years ago. pic.twitter.com/iflH70j7q4

IT WAS LAST UPDATE IN 2015 BUT…
Kosta Eleftheriou, the developer of the keyboard application for the Apple Watch called FlickType, also stated that Apple has removed a version of the application made specifically for the visually impaired, since it has not been updated for two years. Eleftheriou pointed out that the once popular Pocket God app received its last update in 2015, but is still available on the App Store. Several other developers have also complained that they do not have time to update their apps.
