With the first roadmap for 2025, the developers of Aion Classic also announced server mergers. Part of the community reacted with the fear that this would completely wipe out the Asmodians faction. Now Gameforge is responding to this concern with a statement.
What did the developers announce? With the first roadmap for 2025, those responsible for Aion Classic presented upcoming events, content update 3.7 and the plans for an upcoming server merger.
Specifically, the populations of the Atreia and Tahabata servers are to be merged onto a completely new Aion Classic server in the first quarter of 2025. After the announcement, part of the community reacted to the mergers with concern. The Elyos faction is clearly in the majority. This imbalance could be made worse by the action, some players fear.

Statement from Gameforge
How are developers responding to the concern? MeinMMO has received a comprehensive statement from those responsible for Gameforge in which the developers address the faction ratio, current player numbers and the planned server merges.
Gameforge explains the faction balance in Aion Classic:
The balance between factions is a crucial factor for a fair and engaging gaming experience in Atreia, which is why we continually monitor this issue and take measures to ensure an optimal gaming experience.
We would like to address the recent discussions regarding faction balance. The population numbers of the factions differ depending on the server, although the extent varies. Some players have observed that Elyos often have the upper hand in battles such as Apheta Beluslan or Laphsaran. This can partly be attributed to the larger player base, which in turn tends to be more towards top performances. At the same time, however, there are numerous high-level and experienced Asmodians whose tactical coordination and leadership can make a decisive contribution to the outcome of battles – so success remains within reach for both factions.
Gameforge in a statement for MeinMMO
A large part of Aion Classic’s PvP content is designed in such a way that the faction ratio itself plays no role. In addition, measures are planned – also in collaboration with NCSoft – to further support the balance between the two factions in the future. The statement says:
It is also important to note that the planned server merge will only change the PvP dynamics to a limited extent. Most PvP activities take place on the shared “Battlefield” server, where all factions can freely compete against each other. This ensures that players have access to exciting and competitive PvP experiences regardless of server and faction.
To further support faction balance, we have already launched several adjustments and events in 2024 to enable more participation for all players. Even after the server merge, we will introduce further initiatives based on the available player numbers. It is also worth mentioning that the merger with the Tahabata server is a A step that has long been desired by the community was to equalize different population sizes and improve PvE and PvP opportunities.
Gameforge in a statement for MeinMMO
According to Gameforge’s statement, the number of simultaneously active players has increased steadily over the past quarter – which can be explained by the regular updates and events that the team provides for Aion Classic. We would like to thank those responsible for their comments and keep our fingers crossed that all the goals set can be achieved with the merge!
While the MMORPG oldies Aion and Aion Classic continue to be expanded with new content, the MeinMMO editorial team is primarily waiting for the release of the sequel, which is scheduled to appear in the second half of 2025. Aion 2 places a big focus on PvE and a business model like Throne and Liberty.
