Gaming developer Tomas Sala has already changed the name of his game on Steam twice. The first time, players annoyed him so much that he didn’t feel like explaining to them over and over again that his game is a sandbox and not an epic strategy game. Now he is bursting with pride and wants to share it with his fans.
Who is the developer?
Developer renames his game on Steam and curses the players
What was his problem? We reported on Sala and his game in May 2024. Essentially, the Steam reviews of Bulwark annoyed him to no end.
People criticized the game, saying that it was nice, but that it lacked the content and endgame for a big strategy game. The game was aimless and rather experimental.
Sala was very annoyed by this criticism, because he had no intention of making such a strategy game with an endgame and a clear goal. He cursed:
“Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles, a damn creative sandbox and not a damn strategy game, build cool shit and don’t expect an endgame because it’s a sandbox”
Out of sheer defiance, he called his game
After a major update, the game gets a new name for the second time
What is he doing now? A major update to Bulwark has now been released. As Sala said, it is “the closest thing to version 1.0”. It is a massive update with a new mode and a lot of new open world content. In the new “Total Conquest” mode, you declare war on every faction in the game.
To celebrate the update and because the “Bloody Sandbox” apparently wasn’t such a brilliant move in retrospect, he is now calling the game “Bulwark Evolution: Falconeer Chronicles”. In May, when he changed the name to “damned sandbox”, Bulwark had lost around 59% of its players. Apparently the new name wasn’t that clever after all.
It must be said that Bulwark’s reviews are now very good at 80%, and in the last 30 days the “damned sandbox” even had 91% positive reviews. So maybe the new name has achieved its goal after all: the developer is so annoyed by ignorant players that he is cursing and renaming his game
