Detained for nine months for the Pajalam murder – now the woman receives a six-figure sum

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

It was on June 29, 2021 that a man was found dead in a burned-out car in a village outside Pajala. A cohabiting couple, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s, were arrested and sentenced to long prison sentences in the district court.

But the Court of Appeal made a different assessment and acquitted the couple completely. The woman, who was detained for two rounds and just over nine months in total, has since demanded compensation for the time she was detained.

Six digit amount

Now the Chancellor of Justice (JK) has made a decision and the woman will receive a total of SEK 326,803. The man, who was initially sentenced to 15 years in prison for murder, has also submitted a plea.

The man applies for SEK 411,600 in compensation, but JK has not made a decision on that issue yet.

The fire scene was cordoned off
