  • The airbase is also located less than 20 miles from Finland’s northeastern border and approximately 38 miles from the Swedish border. The data has not been confirmed yet, but Finnish President Alexander Stubb commented on the incident to the Finnish media during the Paris Olympics, saying:

    – The basic message is that we have no reason to worry in Finland. We have the situation under control and can react. We have been in contact with Sweden’s Prime Minister about the attack and how we will react, writes Illta Sanomat.

    – We also have to get used to the fact that Ukraine must use all means to win this war. And Russia continues with hybrid attacks. Let us be calm and alert. We have nothing to worry about, he continues.

In a comment to SVT, Ulf Kristersson’s press secretary writes:

“The prime minister shares the Finnish president’s basic message that there is no cause for concern. We have war in our immediate area and we follow developments closely”.

“Sweden has close contact with our neighboring countries, not least with Finland regarding the security situation”.

The information is also closely followed on the Norwegian side.

    – As usual, we keep a watchful eye on what is happening in our surrounding areas. We always have a military presence in and around Norway, and this does not change anything, says Norwegian Armed Forces spokesperson Hanne Olafsen to The daily newspaper.
