A man, who was previously known to the police, has died after the shooting in the Emporia shopping center in Malmö. Shortly after 5 p.m., information was received about a shooting at the shopping center. People testified that several explosions were heard and that people fled in panic.
A woman is still being treated for gunshot wounds and her condition is said to be serious. According to information, the woman must have been a passerby.
A large police operation has been underway and the area was cordoned off. At half past six, the police announced that a person had been arrested and that the immediate danger to the public was over. The police also write that the shooting is considered to be connected to “the criminal environment” and the man must have been the leader of a motorcycle gang. The arrested person is a 15-year-old boy.
Just before 10 p.m., the barricades at the shopping center were lifted.
So far this year, 45 people have died in shootings in Sweden – the same number as in the whole of last year, according to police statistics.
