  • The Israeli army claims it killed armed Hamas members in the attack and that the site was used to store weapons. The information has not been verified by independent sources.

    Israel calls for new evacuations

At the same time, the Israeli military is planning a new military offensive in the area around Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, where it says Hamas fighters are. The goal is stated to be to combat “Hamas’ efforts to regroup its forces there”.

Because of this, the IDF has ordered the evacuation of part of a 60 square meter “humanitarian zone” where Israel has urged Palestinians to flee during the war. Much of the area is covered in tent camps, and some 1.8 million Palestinians take shelter there, according to Israeli estimates.

Heavy fighting is ongoing in the area and the UN confirms that more than 180,000 people have fled since Monday.
