The police were called to Handen in Haninge municipality at 06:00 on Monday.
A private person who was in a small natural area had found a body.
The forest party was cordoned off and the police launched a major operation. After forensics officers carried out an investigation at the scene, the police stated that the suspicions of murder have been strengthened and that the victim is “a young person” whose next of kin have been informed.
According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, the deceased is a 13-year-old boy, which Expressen was the first to report on. He must have been shot in the head. The boy was reported missing at the end of last week and was last seen alive south of Stockholm.
The police are working on the theory that the teenager was moved to the forest lot after his death and that the murder took place in another place.
The Stockholm police media center does not want to comment on the information, but refers to prosecutor and preliminary investigation leader Lisa dos Santos who says:
– I am not commenting on anything at the moment. We will issue a press release later this afternoon. Now we have to work undisturbed until then.
