While the work for the MMU, one of the most exciting projects in the defense industry, continued, the US media focused on the domestic and national aircraft. One of the most striking details in the MMU, where Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) undertook the main integrator under the coordination of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), was the sensor configuration on the aircraft.
A NEW CONFIGURATION
In the analysis shared by The War Zone platform, which examined the images of the MMU, it was mentioned that there is a new type of sensor configuration at the front end of the aircraft.
“NO SIMILAR”
“Unique among known advanced fighter aircraft designs, currently in the field or in development, this arrangement can provide significant benefits,” the analysis said, highlighting the sensors located at the front end of the MMU.
It will replace the F-16s
According to AA, the MMU is in the inventory of the Air Force Command and will be gradually decommissioned from the 2030s.
It will replace the planned F-16 aircraft.
Turkey will become one of the countries with the infrastructure and technology to produce a 5th generation combat aircraft as a result of the project’s studies in technology areas such as low visibility, internal weapon slot, high maneuverability, increased situational awareness and sensor fusion, which should be in a new generation aircraft.
