Destroy All Humans, which appeared in a renewed form years later! We are throwing the world into chaos in 2 review content.

When it comes to alien attack, a classic scenario comes to mind. Aliens attack the world, humanity seems powerless in the face of this attack. Then several heroes emerge and turn the war around, saving humanity’s future. However, all these scenarios changed with the game Destroy All Humans in 2005. Now let’s be frank, although I tried to make a fancy entrance, actually this classic scenario had changed many times. For example, one of my favorite movies of Tim Burton, Mars Attack! Construction is one of them.

Let’s go back to our topic, Destroy All Humans. Destroy All Humans is one of the great games of PlayStation 2, which brought very important works to the game world and was the best selling console of the pre-PlayStation 4 series. When it was released in 2005, during the heyday of THQ, it may not have had an impact that would radically change the game world, but it has always had a very important place in my life. I always liked this opposite point of view, which I mentioned at the beginning of the article when it came out. Also, although I missed the jokes with half English at that time, he managed to win my heart even with his gameplay alone. Already a year later, Destroy All Humans 2 was released and made much more players know about this series.

At that time, the companies that gave me these beautiful memories closed their shutters one by one. First, the game’s producer, Pandemic Studios, closed the shutters after being acquired by EA. Then, as you know, THQ company, which owns all the naming rights of the game, went into a serious financial crisis at the beginning of the 2010s, after which they filed the bankruptcy flag. Especially Pandemic Studios (maybe the word pandemic didn’t mean anything at that time, but now this name means a lot to the whole world) has signed one of the successful games of my period like Mercenaries, and finally, it took down the shutters by making the beautiful game called The Saboteur for EA. .

Rebirth of the series

The naming rights of Destroy All Humans actually started to get tough when THQ filed the bankruptcy flag in 2012. However, the company Nordic Games (which they now continue with the name THQ Nordic, since they also have the THQ naming rights) company, in 2013 Destroy All Humans! By announcing that he bought the naming rights, he managed to make many players happy, like me. Then it was first released in 2005’s Destory All Humans! The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One port of the game came, and shortly after, the PS4 port of Destroy All Humans!2, the favorite game of 2006, came. While even these two ports made me happy, the news that made me very happy in 2019 was announced by THQ Nordic: Destroy All Humans! A remake of the game was coming in accordance with today’s conditions!

Remake has started to become quite popular in the post-remastered game world these days. In fact, although the game is made from scratch, that is, there is a serious workload, it is seen as relatively easy to make because there are no long meetings on the main creative issues. Because there is actually a storyboard in front of you, there are decisions taken and implemented in heated meetings before. All that needs to be done is to re-code the same game in today’s technologies and maybe bring a new menu system. As you know, the remake of the first game, called The Last of Us Part I, is coming in September. The game that is the subject of our article is Destory All Humans! 2.

Destory All Humans released in 2020! The remake game had a quality that I could point out about the remake. The game, which was remade with today’s technology, had mistakes, of course, but still, a smooth gameplay, updated jokes and now pleasing graphics were the highlights. Now do the same with Destroy All Humans 2! I can also say for Reprobed. The game, which was completely remade based on the original game with Unreal Engine 4, has a graphically satisfying image, especially for those who love the series. Since the version I’m playing was just before the final version, the skin uploads could be slightly delayed, but I guess that won’t happen in the final version. Some serious bugs have also happened to me while playing, but generally the game world is currently fixing many issues with the first day patch. Review editors like us often play the game without taking advantage of the first day patch.

Never ending alien invasion

Destroy All Humans! 2 Reprobed (with a word added at the end to avoid confusion with the old one) takes place 10 years after the first game left off. Cryptosporidium-137, made from Furon DNA by Orthopox 13 in the first game (the last number actually shows which clone it is), or Crypto for short, starts to stir things up. It collects samples to create better DNA, and on the other hand, it makes a political mess. Eventually, a process that extends to the American presidency begins. In the second game, as I just mentioned, we are going 10 years later. We see that Crypto-137 is dead, but with its slightly improved features, Crypto-138 came to the world and replaced 137. Crypto-138 has the same voice and the same sense of humor.

At the very beginning of the game, we see the KGB’s plan to end the alien invasion, and we start playing Crypto-138 leaving the presidency and pursuing the KGB and the secret plan underneath. Of course, we also have a goal of bringing Orthopox 13 back to its body. Destroy All Humans 2! Reprobed has a similar dynamic to the first game in terms of gameplay. However, this time, he does not give some basic information to the player at first, he proceeds by thinking that he knows a little. While the features such as replacing someone else, gaining knowledge, throwing them up in the air, removing their brains are taught one by one in the first game, they are obvious in this game, but the icons at the bottom of the screen show what they do. Of course, since the game allows you to experiment a lot, you can try and find it quickly.

For those who do not know, I would like to talk about the general dynamics of the game. Destroy All Humans 2! Reprobed is based on a semi-open world system. There are 5 different maps in total in the game. Although their names in the game are completely made up, they are actually based on real cities. Playing with Bay City (San Francisco) at the beginning of the game, we go to Albion (London) after a while, then stop by Takoshima (Tokyo) and move on to Tunguska (Siberia). Finally, we go to the Moon, which no longer needs a false name. We even go to the KGB base on the Moon. Yes, you didn’t misread. Did I mention before that the game’s sense of humor is based on the absurd?

Let me continue with the semi-open system. When we go to these maps in the game, the entire map is open to us. Sometimes we can go to the iconic works of the cities, sometimes they are only seen from afar. Although we can go to all of these maps, the game actually encourages us to do missions. In the same mini map, the missions take place in different places, so we can see the map completely. But we can wander around as we want, both while doing the task and before taking the task, and we can combine the city like in GTA.

In fact, we can increase the size of this not only by walking on the ground as Crypto or gliding with our jetpack, but also by boarding our spaceship Saucer. All the buildings you see in the city have the ability to explode and collapse thanks to the physics engine (though they come back later). We can heat the buildings first and then explode them with our beam from Saucer, thus bringing chaos to the city. In fact, it is possible to first disperse a KGB base from above and then travel comfortably on foot.

Aside from the chaos part, the game gives you a lot of features so that you can do the missions more comfortably and play with a little privacy. For example, we can control the body of anyone we see on the street, whether it is a police or kgb agent. In fact, we basically rule by going inside, because when we leave the body, the person we control dies. With the body we control, we can walk on the streets unnoticed. However, when we control the body or use a secret force, those who see us in the vicinity rush to use the nearest police phone by making a phone sign on them. Again, we can make them forget what they saw with the forget signal. Frankly, using these features becomes extremely simple and fast in a very short time. Don’t ever think of it as a serious privacy system. The game is all about fluidity and creating rapid chaos when appropriate. Since it is based on the foundations of the game in 2005 and 2006 and does not add much to it, it does not benefit from today’s gameplay systems.

We can also use these police phones I mentioned to calm the environment. Let’s say there was chaos and the police started to surround us all of a sudden. We steal a policeman’s body immediately and use the police phone in a quiet place to say that the atmosphere has calmed down. Although it is possible to operate the police with this phone. There are some jokes in English that are not used much in our country.

Action or comedy game?

I should mention that the main genre of the game is comedy. It’s not just the dialogues that make clever jokes, the whole game is an absurd comedy show. If you start to immerse yourself in the game, you even laugh at your actions. After coming to the London part, for example, we get the weapon called Anal Probe, which we remember from the previous period. This weapon is a weapon that goes into the breeches of enemies and almost sucks their souls to death and then returns to us. Think of the comedy that occurs while using it.

We unlock weapons as we progress in the game. In addition to the weapons in the original game, there is also a Meteor Shower weapon for this game. Each weapon is quite simple to use, but at the same time enjoyable. In addition, although the dialogues in the game are almost the same, they have been reworked and some current jokes have been added. The sound of Crypto 137 in the first game and Crypto 138 in this game is the same. If we go further, J. Grant Albrecht, who voiced Crypto in 2005 and 2006, voiced the character in the remakes, so those who knew the game like me in the past were very pleased.

All the costumes earned in the first game and even more are also available in this game. At first, many costumes come open. If you want, you can only change the costume color and pattern, or you can even turn Crypto into Krampus. Likewise, many different patterns are at the beginning of the game for our spaceship Saucer, and more can be collected and new ones can be opened in the game.

Two different points!

In the conclusion part, it is necessary to evaluate the game in two different ways; The remake value for those who played the first game, the quality of the game for those who are completely new. They managed to make an old game playable today fluently. However, on the other hand, we can say that since it does not add big changes and great innovations to the gameplay, it condemns the new games to play with the old game style. I mean again, many dynamic or city features that come with new games are not here.

For this reason, I recommend that those who have not played Destroy All Humans games or the remake of the first game before should research the game thoroughly. Then don’t think about what kind of style this is. I created the final score of the game by combining these two situations. As I mentioned at the beginning of the paragraph, if you came here to play the remake after the old games, the score I will give you is written above 🙂

Note: The game also has a local co-op feature, but I did not include it in the article because I could not test it. However, I can say that it is a feature that will suit this type of game and will allow you to enjoy it even more with your friend.
