Destiny 2’s most important DLC has been postponed for a few months, probably due to layoffs

There are only a few months left until the release of “The Final Form” and although there is only one season left, there is now one bitter news that Destiny 2 fans have to endure and that is the postponement of the most important DLC.

What are the Guardians waiting for? It is the most important DLC for Destiny 2 and that is “The Final Form”. In this chapter of the sci-fi saga, the story about the battle between light and darkness is concluded. Guardians will go into battle against the Witness and attempt to prevent the unstoppable end of the entire universe.

A spectacle that many Guardians have been waiting for since the release of Destiny 1 and despite the DLC being so important, it will now have to be postponed for a few months.

Layoffs could be the reason for the postponement

Why is the DLC postponed? Unfortunately, no one knows that for sure at the moment. According to insider and gaming journalist “Jason Schreier,” some Bungie employees have been laid off.

The exact number of layoffs is not yet known, but the majority of employees have spoken out via social media. So far it seems as if mostly only communication positions have been deleted.

If that weren’t enough, it also hit the release of “Die Finale Form” and the upcoming extraction shooter “Marathon”. Both have been postponed:

  • The DLC “The Final Form” was supposed to be released on February 27th – now the target is June
  • Marathon hasn’t had a release yet, but many assumed 2024 as a possible release year – now it’s 2025
  • What happens in the additional months until the final form? Nobody knows that for sure yet. Jason Schreier’s message was written quickly and Bungie has not yet had the opportunity to speak out about the current situation in the company.

Jason himself gets his information from employees at Bungie. They were only recently informed about the postponements of the two projects. So it’s quite possible that Bungie will have its say on Thursday for its weekly TWaB post and inform its community about what’s coming.

Until then, what do you think of the postponement of Die Finale Form? Did you expect this or do you even think it’s good? Let us find out in the comments!
