Destiny 2 now torches you because a desire for more damage is cursed

Amid Destiny 2’s new quests and activities, there’s now a burning warning that’s making Guardians sit up and take notice. In Season 23, a desire for more damage in The Winding not only causes you to burn down, but sometimes even your game. MeinMMO has all the details.

This bug is currently causing players to burn: Bungie already warned Guardians that wishes from a Wish Dragon always come with a price. Funnily enough, a bug has now ensured that this is actually the case.

  • The error occurs in the activity “The Winding”, where players overcome an increasing level of difficulty with each run in order to reach a room full of loot by reaching platinum.
  • To support them, Riven, the wishing dragon, offers them various buffs (wishes), which they can buy from her before each section in exchange for wishing glass shards.
  • But whoever activates a certain wish there is suddenly confronted with some hot in-game effects that can unstoppably set the Guardian on fire and even cause the game to crash.

Destiny 2’s newest dungeon has been live since yesterday and you’re definitely not hot there:

Season 23 sets solar fans on fire

You’d better stay away from this: In “The Winding,” one of the seasonal activities in Season 23, you can use Wishing Shards to get the level 3 benefit of more solar damage from Scorching. Scorching Wish promises to apply an impressive 50 Scorch stacks to your enemies.

  • This Scorching Wish effect is particularly beneficial this Season 23 because your artifact focuses primarily on solar abilities.
  • Players who like to use weapons or abilities with solar energy will enjoy this.
  • But anyone who activates this desired buff on Riven will quickly regret it. For example, using the hand cannon “Sunshot” will cause your character to be assigned an infinite number of Scorch stacks and you will “catch on fire”. Your “Fountain of Splendor” also gives you additional scorching buffs.

The exceptional player Esoterik quickly discovered this and therefore shared it with the community.

This fire even kills the game: Lots of Scorch stacks alone won’t kill a Guardian, but there won’t be much life left either. You are extremely strong, which is certainly tempting, but it only works as long as you continue to heal yourself using all available means in Destiny 2. However, at some point you’ll get to the point where you’ve built up so many Scorch stacks that even Destiny 2 will drop out.

What does the community say about the bonfire? She’s not even annoyed by it, she’s actually excited about it. Because now in Season 23 there is a situation where a supposedly positive or desirable action has unexpectedly negative consequences. How real irony of a seemingly good decision that one should always expect in a deal with a wishing dragon.

  • h3xist is not surprised. He thinks, “I mean, we got it from a wishing dragon… And every wish they make goes wrong somehow.”
  • Joemayfield wants to know and writes: “Somehow, somehow… That sounds like a challenge!”
  • MandrewMillar comments: “What’s even better is that [saisonale Raketenwerfer] Dragon’s Breath gives you Scorch with this wish. […] But damn, it’s such an entertaining one [Sache]I don’t want to take it off. […] Bungie, please DO NOT FIX this bug. It’s funny because it’s a wishful mistake, a real “monkey’s paw” situation!”
  • What is a Monkey Paw Situation?

The term is sometimes used as “monkey’s paw” or “monkey’s paw effect” to indicate an undesirable turn or negative consequence that may result from a particular action or, as here, from a wish.

Some players even believe this is intentional. However, if you look at the game crashes, this absolutely cannot be an intentional effect on Bungie’s part. And this has now been confirmed.

This is what Bungie says: In all fun, Bungie’s Season Creative Lead has already confirmed to Paul Tassi that there is no malicious or deceitful intent involved.

It is currently unclear when Bungie will be able to fix the problem. As soon as we have more information about this, we will update our article for you.

Of course you can use the wish – but healing is only possible as long as you have enemies. However, if these do not happen, there is little or no possibility of saving you. With only one life point you are a one-shot of everything. And Destiny 2 could blow your mind too. In this case, it’s better not to push your luck until there is a solution.

Have you already purchased the Cursed Wish from Riven and wondered? What do you think about the suggestion that certain of Riven’s wishes have unpredictable and potentially dangerous consequences? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
