Destiny 2: New trailer for Lightfall reveals spectacular stunts

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

destiny 2 has once again demonstrated its strong trailer skills at the Game Awards 2022 and leaves with the neon green skills of its guardians in Lightfall even Spiderman look old. The small preview revealed surprising guardian moves, surfing cloud riders, tormentors, and a horrified antagonist of the traveler.

What is this trailer? At the Bungie’s latest trailer is another preview of the upcoming Destiny 2: Lightfall expansion, which premiered at the 2022 Game Awards:

Destiny 2: Lightfall – Trailer Game Awards

The new DLC will be released on February 28th, 2023 and will take the Guardians to Neomuna, a futuristic city in the clouds.

What does the video show exactly? On the one hand you can see the new ability of the darkness “Strong” in action. This should allow players to literally tug at the neon-green “strings of reality”.

  • 00:14 – Here a hunter becomes the movement king. He’s seen activating his new Super ability from Lightfall to casually do a casual somersault off a skyscraper.
  • 00:30 – Now the new grappling hook comes into action. But not to swing from corner to corner like Spiderman. True Guardians use their String Lasso to cling to a Titan that has just drawn its Thunder Clap Super. You can’t get from A to B faster and cooler in Destiny 2 from Lightfall onwards.
  • 00:53 – The titan manifests neon green claws with which he can easily tear apart his enemies, in this case Vex.
  • 00:53 – The lasso is also apparently suitable as a mob killer. You can see how a hunter can easily pulverize his enemies in one sweep.
  • 01:03 – The Warlock, on the other hand, in Lightfall will manipulate the neon green weave with his mind, hurling green projectiles at his enemies.
  • In addition to the skill gameplay of the Guardians, you can also see a few enemies:

  • So at 01:18 one of the huge “tormentors” can be seen in the trailer. They come into play as brand new enemies with the Lightfall DLC. This foe kneels and focuses on a Guardian who can’t seem to escape. Then he hurls it away with a shot from his hand and in a high arc.
  • A “Tormentor”, new enemies in Lightfall, has grabbed a Guardian.

In addition to the tormentors, the Guardians must primarily compete against the soldiers of the Shadow Legion. This Cabal army is subordinate to the Witness’s newest disciple: Calus.

Can you also discover details about the story? Not specifically – but there are small hints. Strong impressions from Hollywood are also included.

  • Attentive guardians noticed the trailer’s speaker. This is Osiris, who speaks of the fact that he too has learned “to overcome the impossible through loss”.
  • A cloud walker is seen surfing through the air on a silver board.
  • Not a Silversurfer, but a cloud runner designed by Bungie.
  • Planets, like Earth, can also be seen in parts of the trailer. But not a traveller.
  • A horrified expression on the witness’s face also surprised the players. So far, he has been rather unapproachable and seemed as if nothing could stop him. But now, when a kind of white tree with blood-red leaves opens in front of him in the trailer to discharge massive energy in his direction, he doesn’t seem to have liked it at all.
  • This is also what players can expect in Lightfall: The new DLC Lightfall is also intended to improve Destiny 2’s systems. Bungie has already announced that there will be a guardian ranking system. Help new players understand the game better. Even veterans should find new ways to help others in the game through a keeper rank system. The highlight, however, is the integrated loadout system, so you can save your builds in the game.

Musical highlight of the trailer: As with the last DLC “Witch Queen”, Bungie has again used a very individual and strong background music in this trailer. This is the song “Used to the Darkness” by Des Rocs.
