Destiny 2 is a shooter that also has a lot to offer musically. Bungie has long entertained its guardians with cool gunplay and emotional music. Now a developer has revealed another cool, musical weapon secret that no guardian has discovered since 2020. MeinMMO tells you which one and lets you hear how it sounds.

That’s why it’s worth listening carefully: Music in Destiny 2 is very different from most games. Bungie’s composers often try new things musically with each DLC release.

Since 2014, music in the Destiny universe has not only accompanied what guardians do in the game. It is also a very emotional melodic version of the entire story to express particularly strong moments from the Destiny story in a more engaging way.

The number of players who have music from Destiny 1 and 2 in their personal playlist to date and who enjoy listening to it shows how well this is received.

We can especially recommend the following songs from the Destiny story:

In 2022, Bungie continues this captivating music tradition. At the start of the “The Witch Queen” DLC in February 2022, the teaser song “Cruel Word” by Phantogram attracted a lot of attention and made Destiny catchy again.

Destiny’s sound appeals to many and is often recognizable. The guardians were all the more surprised when another musical but also old secret from the Destiny universe was revealed.

Which secret has now been revealed? On November 18th, Bungie’s Senior Sound Designer Juan Pablo Uribe announced via Twitter that a very specific Exotic Weapon can play the music from a Destiny 2 DLC. He also added, “You’ll know when you hear it.”

Senior sound designer Juan Pablo Uribe reveals the sound secret via Twitter.

The weapon is specifically the “Decay Image” trace rifle released in Season 11 in 2020, which plays the well-known base melody from the “Beyond Light” DLC.

How can the sound be triggered? First you must have the weapon. Since the former Exo quest is no longer available, you can easily purchase the Trace Rifle from the “Lost Lights Monument” on the tower.

If you then fire a sustained beam from the Exotic Decayed Image Trace Rifle, there is a 1 in 10 chance that you will be able to hear the subtle additional melody in the sound of the shot.

YouTuber Luckyy 10P wanted to know for sure, so he immediately made a video with a shot test and was surprised at what he heard. If you listen carefully, you will recognize the signature tones of the “Beyond Light” intro as the weapon fires.

Listen carefully, please, to recognize the signature tune from “Beyond the Light”.

When asked, Juan Pablo Uribe further explained that as this exo-weapon was released a season before Beyond Light in July 2020, this was the first time ever that a musical DLC theme was secretly used in Destiny 2 as a teaser for implemented what was to come.

From now on, players no longer only have to pay attention to texts or hidden locations in order to catch small teasers of the future. You’ll probably have to prick up your ears from now on if you want to find hidden references from Bungie.

What do you say about this musical secret? Would you have come up with the idea or don’t you pay close attention to your weapons? Feel free to leave us your comments on this topic here on MeinMMO and tell us what your favorite Destiny song is.
