Despite Trump’s message: Ukraine’s ambassador believes in security guarantees

US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Ukraine cannot count on any US security guarantees for a possible ceasefire.

Nor are any concrete guarantees included in the mineral agreement that Zelensky and Trump will sign on Friday.

Despite this, Ukraine’s ambassador believes that in the end it can still land in security guarantees from the United States.

– The agreement is signed as part of a larger package of security guarantees, says Ukraine’s ambassador.

Security guarantees from Europe

According to Trump However, it is Europe and not the United States that will provide Ukraine security guarantees.

– We will let Europe do it. Europe is their closest neighbor, but we will make sure that everything is going well, said the American president during the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

The ambassador comments on the statement for 30 minutes:

– Once again, our team works. The conversations will continue in Washington and in other places.

– The support from the United States is absolutely crucial to us. And in the case of future security guarantees, the United States is a central partner, says the ambassador.
