Every year, the police make large seizures of narcotics, and recently there was a record-breaking seizure in Tyresö, south of Stockholm, where they seized around 500 kilos of narcotics, with a total street value of around SEK 80 million.
But despite the fact that the entire legal system seizes around ten tons of drugs every year, drugs abound in the streets and squares and – the market prices remain the same.
– Even if it is a record seizure, I don’t think it will significantly affect the market. So far I can’t see, despite the fact that we made several large seizures last year, that the prices have changed on the street, says Martin, the narcotics police officer.
The drugs that flow into the country are often sold to people in wealthy areas, says Martin, who believes that in order to overcome the drug problem, more police officers need to be employed.
