Murders between competing criminal gangs have characterized much of the news reporting around Järvafältet in recent years. In 2021, nine people were murdered in Järva.
In 2022, there was a trend break – despite a high-profile murder on Christmas Day – the number of shootings was significantly fewer.
– The key is to remove the individuals from the area, either that they are sentenced or simply drop out of the criminal path. At the same time, it is extremely important to have parental contact, which is often the most important thing in avoiding murder, says Anders Djurestad who is acting local police area chief in Järva.
