After Bengtsfors municipality started a rescue service cooperation with Åmål and Bergslagen, ruling politicians think they can do without one of their two vehicles. Several other municipalities have previously made similar donations.
The scrapped fire engine is worth upwards of half a million kroner and is well equipped, with extra clearance and four-wheel drive.
– For many reasons, it makes it extra effective in a place like Ukraine. According to our contacts, it will be of great use, says Stig Bertilsson (M), chairman of the municipal board.
Now the municipality is waiting for information about location in Ukraine.
