“Those jobs cannot be compared with each other,” says Dijs. “It’s like having a headwind in one race and a tailwind in the next.” That explains the difference of two seconds, but that should have been greater, says Dijs, who was thirteenth fastest in Heerenveen. “It’s in the little things, the field is very close together. The level is high and you can’t make any mistakes.” But he did. “I was a bit unhappy with my substitution, so I lost a lot of speed.”
