Desperate elk hunter: I shot a horse

It all happened in Norwegian Troms at the end of September. The hunter has stated in police questioning that he was absolutely sure that he was shooting at a moose. At the beginning of the investigation, there were suspicions that he had instead opened fire on a horse’s enclosure, but now it is clear that it was out in nature.

“The twelve-year-old horse had broken out of the enclosure,” says police chief Katrine Grimnes to NRK.

The hunter has acknowledged the circumstances and is prepared to accept any consequences.

“He is of course in complete despair, and wants to do well for himself in view of the lost animal,” says Grimnes to the newspaper Nordlys.
