Desperate bluetongue farmers are considering damage claims Province of Utrecht

“The bluetongue virus is a tragedy. Not only for me, but also for my colleagues. The carcasses lie along the roads here,” says dairy farmer Egbert de Graaff from Nieuwer Ter Aa. Five of his twelve sheep are dead, and he also has sick cows that produce less milk. Farmers in the Vecht and Venen area fear for their businesses. They also see a relationship between the virus outbreak and Utrecht’s nature policy. They threaten with claims for damages.
