Dermot Clemenger on serious TV collapse: ‘So disappointed’

Beef is the best Netflix series of the year so

Since 2006, we have been able to see him in the Let’s dance jury on TV4. But when Dermot Clemenger was on the reality show The Island Sweden, he collapsed and had to be rushed to hospital. – I would absolutely do it again, he says in Efter fem. The Island Sweden involves Swedish celebrities surviving on a tropical island off the coast of Panama for three weeks. Isolated from the outside world, and with a camera crew living under the same conditions as the participants themselves, they were forced to deal with challenges such as hunger and wild animals. For Clemenger, however, participation in the program’s second season came to an abrupt end when the jury member had to be rushed to hospital. Had a bleeding stomach ulcer Before Dermot and the other participants left for Panama, they underwent a thorough medical examination. But what the inquest missed was that Dermot had an incipient stomach ulcer. He describes it as feeling progressively weaker over the course of the program, but dismissed concerns that it was due to hunger. – You are hungry, you are tired, you are wet, you are cold. Then I thought it was hunger, he says in Efter fem. But one night when he was going to get a bottle of water, it suddenly hit. Dermot became short of breath, had palpitations and then passed out in the jungle. “Absolutely would do it again” The TV crew quickly called for help and the juror had to be rushed to Panama Hospital, but Dermot thought he would quickly be back on the show. – Just then I was so disappointed that I was leaving the island. When I look at pictures now, I see how serious it was. I knew I was sick. But I thought then and there that I could go to the hospital and then come back the next day. Now I see that I am completely gray in the face. – Would you like to do it again? – I would absolutely do it again! Partly, I think it’s the desire for revenge in me, but also to find myself. I found so many sides of myself that I didn’t know I had. Hear Dermot tell more about the collapse and about the traumatic childhood above.
