Dennis Boelius close to being stopped from Robinson

In Wednesday’s Robinson Dennis is forced to leave right after a competition.
He stumbles on the finish line before the upcoming finals week.
But now he reveals that he almost didn’t get on the show at all – just days before filming was due to start.

We are getting closer to finals week Robinson. Someone who doesn’t manage to get all the way there is Dennis Boelius, 43, who in Wednesday’s episode has to leave Robinson right away when he is the one to leave a competition first for everyone.

– I know exactly how it felt before I released – it feels like it was yesterday, says Dennis to TV4 and tells:

– I have gone on a total of four backstrokes during my career and felt that “fuck, there is a backstroke going on”. Then I see the water. If you get shot in the back, you can’t move, you can’t swim.

The reason why Dennis released first of all

That feelings in the back were part of the reason why Dennis let go first of all is nothing that appears in the program. The pain in his back was already felt when he woke up that morning, but Dennis chose not to comment on it at all.

– I didn’t want to blame it on TV and portray myself as some kind of victim. But I was so tired and hungry and craving a fucking drink, I felt a little done there. I didn’t enter to win the whole thing anyway, I’ll admit that. I went in to create shows and meet new people.

Dennis was at an after party when he submitted his application to Robinson.

– There was an advertising thing about Robinson and I said that I can handle that easily, a bit cocky when drunk. And the others said they didn’t think I would dare. But it was a trap – they knew I would apply if they said so, he says.

– The production contacted us quite immediately, so I had to come to the casting. But you are sober on the island, there was a risk that they wondered where the funny guy had gone, he continues.

Production’s crisis meeting with Dennis in Malaysia

But despite the fact that the production caught on immediately, it was close to Dennis not being allowed to participate in Robinson – even though he was already on location down in Malaysia.

– It was actually close that I didn’t come. When I was in quarantine for five days before the recordings, I drank almost the entire hotel’s alcohol supply – and partied. The production had a crisis meeting about whether I would be allowed to participate or not, says Dennis.

Production confirms that Dennis received a strong warning.

“It is true that Dennis managed to outsmart us and order some form of strong drinks in his hotel room, even though it is not allowed. He received a strong warning and if it happened again, he would not be allowed to participate in the program. We are very happy that this was not the case so he could be there and brighten up the season,” writes Gustav Carlsson, executive producer for Robinson.
