The country has previously asked for more advanced naval targeting robots, to try to break the Russian blockade in the Black Sea. And now they come from Denmark, of the US-made type Harpoon.
“Our country’s coastal defense will be strengthened by the Harpoon robots, which will be used by well-trained Ukrainian units,” Reznikov wrote on Facebook.
Harpoon costs over ten million kronor each and weighs just over half a tonne. They are to be unloaded from land against Russian ships. Ukraine also has proprietary Neptune robots available around the large port city of Odessa, writes the news agency Reuters.
According to Reznikov, “our British friends” have helped with the deliveries of Denmark’s robots.
Ukraine is trying to break a sea blockade that Russia introduced in the Black Sea in connection with the invasion in February. The blockade has, among other things, stopped grain deliveries that affect food prices worldwide.
