Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen has posted a pre -recorded speech in social media where he gives a “message to our American friends and everyone else who listens”.
– Of course, we are receptive to criticism. But let me be completely honest: we don’t appreciate the tone that it is brought forward with, says the minister there.
– So you do not speak to their close allies, and I still see Denmark and the United States as closely allies.
Løkke Rasmussen points out that the United States already has a large military access to Greenland in accordance with previous agreements and calls for greater joint commitments within the existing framework and NATO.
JD Vance said on a visit to the American base Pituffik in northern Greenland that Denmark “has not done a good job to keep Greenland safe” and that the population there would have it “much better” under the US security umbrella.
