The Defense Ministry said in a statement that the trials were an important milestone for the navy, meaning that enemy aircraft could be shot down from long distances.
STRENGTHENS AIR DEFENSE
It is noted that Denmark will soon make these missiles available to the navy within the scope of strengthening its air defense and NATO demands.
The missiles in question will be installed on Iver Huitfeldt class frigates such as Peter Willemoes (F 362), Iver Huitfeldt (F 361) and Niels Juel (F 361).
It is stated that the SM-2 type air defense missiles are the most advanced missile systems owned by the Danish navy. (AA)
