Denmark is investing SEK 23 billion on military renovation in the Arctic. This is stated by the country’s defense minister, Troels Lund during a press conference, reports, among others, Danish BT.
“We are facing serious security policy challenges,” the Minister of Defense writes in a press release.
Three new vessels will be sent to Greenland to replace the current approximately 40 -year -old vessels. The government will also send new drones to improve surveillance, according to the newspaper.
– When it storms about the Kingdom and the Commonwealth, it requires cooperation and unity. We strengthen the military presence and we strengthen the unity, says the Social Democrats’ defense spokesman, Simon Kollerup
Greenland’s Foreign Minister Vivian Motzfeldt also mentions a good cooperation:
– Today’s time requires that we find some good solutions together, says Motzfeldt.
