The United States has legitimate security interests in the Arctic region, and Denmark is ready to discuss the issue with the country’s future administration, stated the Danish foreign minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen on Monday.
– In close cooperation with Greenland, we are ready to continue discussions with the future president of the United States to ensure the legitimate interests of the Americans in the region, Rasmussen said.
At the weekend it was reported that Denmark has contacted the president to return Donald Trump’s to the team, expressing a willingness to discuss improving Greenland’s security and strengthening the US military presence on the island.
