Protests initiated by the Armenian opposition continue in Yerevan after the Azerbaijani army launched terrorist operations in Nagorno-Karabakh.
‘TRAITOR NIKOL’ SLOGANS WERE PUSHED
In the morning, hundreds of people marched to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the grounds that he did not support terrorist groups in Nagorno-Karabakh.
While “Traitor Nikol” slogans were chanted during the marches that started in the busiest avenues and alleys of the capital, the Armenian police intervened in the demonstrators. Many people were detained in the fight that broke out between the police and the protesters.
CALL FROM OPPOSITION LEADERS
On the other hand, Armenian opposition leaders called on the public to gather in front of the Armenian parliament. While many university and high school students who supported the demonstrations boycotted their schools, it was learned that some unions would decide to strike. Security measures have been increased in front of the Armenian National Assembly and Russian Embassy buildings.
PAINTED ATTACK ON THE RUSSIAN EMBASSY
Russia’s embassy in Yerevan was also attacked during today’s protests. Two people approached the embassy building, which the demonstrators had blockaded the previous days, and threw the paint bags in their hands at the door of the Russian Embassy in Armenia.
People who easily approached the embassy building, where security measures were weak, moved away from the front of the building after the paint attack. (UAV)
